“Early on, Mike wrote an essay which was a response to how stale music is because of the alternative scene being more pop-alternative rather than alternative rock. There was a guy describing it as being herbivores. Mike wrote a response saying that "Okay, what we need to do is be more carnivorous with it.” Show our teeth. That was a real turning point with all of us, to say “Okay, we’re hungry right now. Let’s show everyone that we’re hungry through the music that we make.” I started coming up with some ideas of what that effort would look like in a more visceral landscape and came up with the idea of the hunting party. We’re a group of 6 guys who have that hunger and that thirst, and we’re going out and finding it. People in a hunting party either do it for recreation or for necessity, you know. And for us, it’s a little bit of both.” - Joe
